Pauls Photos

Well while the historian was telling his story’s paul was quite antsy so we handed paul the camera to take photos. That always makes him happy. It’s kinda getting scary as sometimes his photos are so good that its hard to tell if one of us took them or he did. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not. Either hes getting that much better or we are getting worse… He was fascinated with taking photos of the lady next to us. We finally got him to take photos of the camp’s and such for bit before he took photos of us and himself.

Final Battle

Towards the end of the day there was a final Battle up at the soccer field.  They had some huge cannons on both sides which when they set them off they were very loud.  It was really fun watching though. Was kinda funny that someone’s car alarm was set to sensitive and every time that the cannon’s would go it would start going off. Towards the end it just never shut off lol.  It was really neat watching though. It was about an hour long and was really nice. The reenactment actor’s really were into there characters and did an excellent job.

Jerry Fischer Local Historian

After we walked back from the reenactment on main street we went over to relax up in the gazebo in the shade to listen to Jerry Fischer the local historian talk about some of the little known battles that Morgan had done.  Spoke of how they took the Alice Dean and quite a bit of other interesting things.  There was another lady there that knew quite a bit and she was asking all sorts of questions. Was really all quite neat wish that I had been able to listen and understand it all. Paul was starting to get a bit tired by this time so was hard to listen as he kept talking and so gave him the camera to take some photos himself.

The Drunken Brawl

We walked up to in front of Little Dave’s to watch the Drunken Brawl. Paul thought was really neat watching all the horses run up and them shooting and the guys falling down.  Some of the ladies kept just standing in front of us which was kinda annoying as there bells on the dress blocked everything. Had to stand up and go half way out in the road on some of the pictures just to get a picture.  The guy in the light blue shirt was pretty funny. He was holding a bottle which was suppose to be whiskey but probably was tea.  Morgan would yell at him to put it down and get up there and shoot and soon as Morgan would turn around he would pick it up again and hide it behind his back. Was really neat to watch though.  Could really smell the gun powder from the guns as was a lot of smoke  as each gun was being fired.

Civil War Days

Well we went over to Brandenburg today to the Civil War Days. They had all sorts of things going on all through out the day. The first thing we did when we got there when we finally found parking was to go look around at the tents and the campsites. There was a blacksmith there and a guy working with leather. There was a real old time photographer that was even taking photos of the reenactors in dress and developing them on the tin. There was just so much that I figured I will upload the photos in different segments so that way there is not quite as many photos in each post and will be easier to understand what you are looking at. When we first got there one of the lady’s in one of the big dresses stopped and tried to talk to paul and tell him how cute his curls were. Paul wanted nothing to do with that. They scared him in the big dresses. Daddy teased him the rest of the day that he was going to sell him to them.
